Bonsai Kreativ is an international team of bonsai enthusiasts from all over Europe, we show you bonsai techniques with practical examples. Since 2017, I have been offering workshops in Austria with international artists, where you can learn bonsai techniques directly on the plants.

If a leaf does not get enough light, it dies and the tree forms too small buds in the “leaf axil”. These small buds only sprout weakly the next year and slowly die off. If you lose many branches, the branching will not grow densely enough. This weakens the tree.

One of the many forms of plant grafting is oculation. This technique is particularly advantageous as the rice bud grows in very well and no wound is left behind.

Bonsai Kreativ was founded after the death of Karl Thier in 2017 by Josef Rauscher, Josef Burschl and Ilona Ilyés with the aim of continuing the work of Karl Thier, i.e. to promote the art of bonsai in Austria and to give bonsai enthusiasts the opportunity to learn from professional bonsai artists.
In 2020, Josef Burschl and Ilona Ilyés retired from Bonsai Kreativ and other bonsai artists such as Nick Rozman and Yannick Kiggen took over their position.
